The weight of floor panels depends on several parameters. Although in many cases it is similar, the final value depends on the length and width of the individual planks, as well as their thickness and even wear resistance class. When choosing more durable floor panels, expect their weight to be greater than that of lower-quality panels, as the most important factor is the quality and weight of the wood-based HDF core board.
How Much Does a Package of Panels Weigh?
When answering the question of how much a package of panels weighs, it’s worth remembering a few points. First, floor panels are always sold in packages, and it is generally not possible to buy a selected number of planks individually (this depends on the goodwill of the store or showroom). For example, Natural Oak from the Ambiance collection is packed in sets of 9 planks. If you need 15 planks, you would have to buy 18 – exactly two full packages. Second, not all packages are the same; different designs may have different numbers of planks per package. It’s always best to check carefully.
The weight of the package changes with the number of planks. Typically, you can expect a weight of around 15 kilograms, due to the factors mentioned above. A package of 9 planks of Natural Oak Ambiance weighs 16.5 kg and covers an area of 2.222 m². Meanwhile, a package containing 6 panels, which covers 0.941 m², weighs 9.5 kg.
