Herringbone Flooring – Creative Arrangement of Floor Panels

Herringbone – a Flooring Pattern That Impresses

In the 1970s and 1980s, classic herringbone was very popular in Poland. Today, it is most often found in old tenement houses, though many, captivated by its charm, confidently use it in modern architecture as well. Such a striking panel arrangement draws attention, becoming an exceptionally decorative element of the interior.

Besides classic herringbone, characterized by cutting the shorter side of the plank at a 90° angle, there are also French and Hungarian herringbone patterns, cut at 45° and 60°. These methods create a dazzling effect that can be combined with many different styles. This type of flooring brings a breath of elegance into interiors, creating excellent and virtually unlimited possibilities for unique space arrangements.

Which Rooms Suit Herringbone Flooring?

Herringbone flooring fits almost anywhere—from the living room and bedroom to the hallway, office, or your child’s room. The only aspect to pay special attention to is the size of the rooms. In spaces crowded with many elements or in small rooms, herringbone may simply be invisible and thus fail to meet expectations. For this reason, it is most often recommended for spacious interiors, preferably living rooms or offices.

Nevertheless, it’s worth experimenting and not being afraid to create original and unusual combinations. Choosing minimalism in interior design easily sets the right conditions for herringbone flooring. White walls and subdued accessories blend well with the rich herringbone pattern. For the best effect, choose floor panels with oak grain, which for many of us is more delicate and therefore particularly striking in this panel arrangement.

The classically beautiful Balearic Oak Herringbone in a deep shade perfectly highlights the beauty of tenement houses or lofts and fits well in spacious interiors. Meanwhile, the lighter Arctic Oak Herringbone De Lux will optically enlarge medium-sized rooms such as bedrooms or offices.
